In this post, I’m going to be that guide and teach you the best things to spend money on as a teenager to set you up for success in all parts of your life.
This post is all about the best things to spend money on as a Muslim teenager.
Best Things To Spend Money On
1# Books
If you have no clue what to spend money on as a teenager number 1 on the list is books. They are by far the BEST things to spend money on that will always give you a return.
I’m not talking about non-fiction books. No girl, I’m talking about books full of valuable knowledge that will elevate your mindset and you as a person.
Think of it like this, books are priceless gems of knowledge gained by someone over years and they’re giving you all that at your fingertips without you having to figure it out yourself.
Read books about business, psychology(how the mind works), habits, money, history, Islam and the Prophet Muhammad. These types of books are the best use of money that will help you grow as a person.
You have so much time on your hands that you won’t always have. Make use of it by reading and gaining knowledge. READ GIRL!
Here are my best book recommendations to start with:
- Rich dad poor dad Robert Kiyosaki
- Millionaire Fastlane
- Download Divine Reality (free) or buy Divine Reality
- When the Moon Split (a biography of Prophet Muhammad)
- Secrets of Divine Love
- The power of habits
- The preaching of Islam(history of Islam)
P.S. If you can’t afford the books download a free pdf version from Google by typing “Rich dad poor dad free pdf”
2# Water Bottle
As a teenager, I struggled with severe acne and just really crap skin which was my biggest insecurity. I hardly drank any water though, thinking about it now. But when I started I noticed my skin getting clearer.
If you want clear skin drink at least 2 litres of water a day. It is one of the important factors to good skin.
A water bottle is definitely one of the smart things to spend money on. I’ve found that just having a water bottle reminds me to drink water and I can track how much I drank.
Get this affordable and cute 2 Litre water bottle
3# Travel Prayer Mat
As Muslims, we have our own obligations we need to ALWAYS prioritise and Salah is one of them. It doesn’t matter where you are never miss them. See it as a conversation with your Lord 5 times a day.
A travel prayer mat is definitely one of the best things to spend money on that benefits your akhirah. It’s cheap(just £3.00!) but handy and it hardly takes up space in your bag. Before that, I used to use a coat, jacket, bag or nothing.
When I found out they exist bro my life was easier. It should be in every Muslim’s daily essentials.
4# Halal Investing
Investing your money is another best use of money as a teenager that will help you build wealth. I’m assuming you know nothing about investing.
To help you understand why you should invest the money you earn rather than keep it in a bank let’s talk about inflation.
Inflation is the rate at which prices of goods and services in an economy increase over time. As inflation rises the value of money(the paper, yes) decreases because you need more of it to buy the same goods.
An example, in 2022 if you had £100 in your bank and you saved it. In 2023 that £100 saved loses its value due to inflation rising which makes goods more expensive. That means you can buy fewer things with that £100 compared to in 2022.
Another relatable example, do you remember when sweets were 1p now they’re £1.00. It’s because of inflation which makes money lose its value. Today 1p is worthless when once upon a time it had worth.
To start you need to sign up for a halal investing platform, Wahed is the one, I use it and I’ve seen returns.
Once you get a job and start earning put £50 a month into it, increase it according to what you earn and leave it. Your wealth over time doubles. That’s better than leaving it in a bank to rot.
I swear it’s one of the smart things to spend your money on that you will be grateful you started as a teenager. Add it to your bucket list and make sure you do it!
5# Gym Membership
Joining the Gym will be one of the best things to spend money on yourself that will make you feel and look good. It is seriously worth every penny. Anything to do with investing in yourself is always the best use of money.
From my own experience starting gym not only made me feel so confident in myself, I feel like working out has changed me as a person.
I feel physically and mentally stronger. This habit has also led me to develop more good habits in other parts of my life.
It’s a WIN-WIN situation!

As a teenager how you look matters A LOT! Especially as a teenage girl. That’s when most teenagers suffer from acne and hyperpigmentation. So investing in some really good skincare products is the best way to spend money on yourself. It is well worth it.
I understand as a teenager you don’t have much money so your girl is going to hook you up with my favourite affordable skincare products you NEED to try out. I don’t wear any foundation or concealer ever because I don’t need to, that’s how good these products are.

9# A Laptop
One of the best and smartest things to spend money on is a laptop. A good quality laptop is a tool for success and an asset you can use to build your dream business as well as gain knowledge literally from the comfort of your own home.
I highly recommend you buy one, it will be one of the best investments you’ve ever made in your life. Be sure to do research and get a good one that you can use for your success.
Maybe for your next birthday ask your mum for it as a birthday gift I’m sure she won’t say no if you need it to study with it.
10# Cute Hijab Outfits
Anything to do with creating cute hijab outfits is money well spent. It’s the key to glowing up physically and one of the best things to spend money on that will make you feel and look good.
My advice to you, if you want to find your style, is to download Pinterest and search for modest outfit ideas. There is so much modest outfit inspo there that will help you decide what clothes you want to buy to elevate your style.
